DVERT provides a 24-hour response team for the DVERT Intensive
caseload. When resources allow, this team also supports law enforcement officers responding to complex, non-DVERT cases.
DVERT Intensive cases are flagged by names and addresses at law enforcement’s computer-aided dispatch centers. Officers dispatched to these addresses are alerted to the DVERT status of the case, and when probable cause of a domestic violence incident exists, a DVERT on-call primary team is alerted. This response team consists of a law enforcement officer, a community-based victim advocate, and a deputy district attorney. A secondary team can also be activated when a situation warrants. This secondary team consists of any necessary combination of professionals from Child Protective Services, the Humane Society, Senior Victims Assistance,
Probation, Court Appointed Special Advocates, and the Child Advocacy Center. At the scene, members of the DVERT team will provide advocacy and support for adult and child victims, and will ensure containment of the offender. For these high-risk cases, the safety of victims and the containment of offenders are paramount.
