New Employee Orientation and Training

New DVERT employees are required to complete approximately two weeks of basic DVERT training. This training includes, but is not limited to, the following:

§          Meeting with DVERT staff on an individual basis to learn the function of each position on site. These meetings typically last a half hour and give new employees the opportunity to learn more about individual roles and DVERT’s partner agencies, ask questions and spend time meeting one another. On-site staff tasked with individual meetings include: Program Director, Associate Director, Advocacy Program Manager, Investigations Program Coordinator, CASA Case Supervisor, Animal Welfare Officer, District Attorney, Crime Analyst, Program Specialist

§          Watching the DVERT Training Video and spending time reviewing the DVERT CD-Rom and Website

§          Spending a morning at T·E·S·S·A (formerly The Center for Prevention of Domestic Violence) for an introduction, tour and Temporary Restraining Order observation

§          Spending an evening at T·E·S·S·A’s Safehouse for an introduction and observation

§          Spending time at the Courthouse observing Temporary and Permanent Restraining Order Hearings and Fast Track

§          Participating in a Ride-Along with an Officer from the Colorado Springs Police Department

§          Participating in a Ride-Along with an Animal Welfare Officer from the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region

In addition, advocates and law enforcement officers will spend approximately two more weeks shadowing and being shadowed by supervisory staff.
