Stalking in Serious Cases of Domestic Violence

Stalking in Serious Cases of Domestic Violence (NIJ)

P.I.: Pat Tjaden. Ph.D., Center for Policy Research

Final report complete, December 1999.

Dr. Pat Tjaden conducted this NIJ funded study in partnership with CU-Springs to examine the role of stalking in misdemeanor and felony domestic violence cases. This study consisted of an analysis of 1,785 domestic violence crime reports (summons and complaints) completed by the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD). The study presents results on the prevalence of stalking allegations in CSPD domestic violence crime reports, risk factors associated with stalking allegations, and police responses to domestic violence crime reports with stalking allegations.
